Wild Hog in the Woods, 953 Jenifer St., Madison, WI

Once again, I will be Stephen Lee Rich's special guest (solo and with Andina & Rich) at his annual Holiday Concert for Those who Hate the Holidays. (Just as long as ice doesn't close the highways)! Other special guests TBA. Holiday-themed (and other) songs, sketches, monologues, poetry and maybe a twisted take on the year in review. We'll be in the Wild Hog in the Woods Coffeehouse inside the lovely and historic Wil-Mar Center a block uphill from Madison's Willy Street Corridor. "The Neighbors" Holiday Concert

Broadway Armory, 5917 N. Broadway, Chicago, IL

Join my next-door neighbor, singer-songwriter/actor/writer/director John S. Green as we perform original songs, standards (from the folk canon to Broadway to the Great American Songbook), and songs of the holiday season--funny, serious and everything in between. It'll be 100% family-friendly, so bring the (well-behaved) kids too. We may even have a special guest or two! The Broadway Armory is on the e. side of B'way between Thorndale and Ardmore (yup, it's BIG, so ask directions to our show once you're inside). Plenty of street parking as well as a lot adjoining it to the north. Only a block or so w. of the CTA's Thorndale Ave. Red Line station, and right on the #36 B'way bus.

Free!

Much to Sue About Nothing

Merle Reskin Theatre, 60 E. Balbo, Chicago, IL

For my 15th year, I am part of the Chicago Bar Association's 94th annual parody musical, The Bar Show--at the historic Merle Reskin (formerly Blackstone) Theatre. This year's title is "Much to Sue About Nothing," with Shakespeare and his characters anchoring the show.  We spoof current events, world affairs, politicians, athletes, celebrities, social phenomena and our fair city itself. This year, look for me as (among other roles) German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Lots of singing, acting, dancing, a bit of rapping (but not too much) and laughs galore! Ticket prices are even lower than in years past, and way lower than any other downtown Chicago theater show. Out last performance of the year, and it's a Sunday matinee--so get in on the fun before seats are gone!

Andina & Rich (near) Home(wood) for the Holidays

Edgar’s Place Coffeehouse, 70 Sycamore Dr., Park Forest, IL

After a 7-year hiatus (was it really 2009 when as part of the SASS! Trio I last played there?) I return--as half of Andina & Rich to Edgar’s Place at Park Forest UU Church for the annual (except last year when I was in Italy and Stephen held down the fort in Madison) Andina & Rich Holiday Concert (formerly Holiday Party for Folks who Hate the Holidays, but we realize it’s not fair to shut out those who like the holidays or who just wanna come in from the cold on a Sat. night deep in December and enjoy some great music, warm beverages and noshes).  Lovely huge room with great acoustics & perfect sightlines.

East Town Farmers’ Market, Cathedral Square, Milwuakee, WI

We’re heading north (okay, Stephen’s heading east) to Milwaukee’s East Town Market in Cathedral Sq. We’ll play till we drop (or everyone has to skedaddle due to tornado warnings...just kidding...maybe). So drop by so we don’t have to drop! We’ll have CDs for sale (including our newest, Chasing Lightning).

Acoustic Sounds

The Crystal Lounge at the Merion, 1611 Chicago Ave., Evanston, IL

Andina & Rich serenade the fine folks of the Merion (an active retirement community)--but you don’t have to live there, be retired or even of retirement age to enjoy us and the potent (or non) potables of your choice--just show up, pay ten bucks and enjoy your adult beverage (your first one is free)! What a lovely alternative to sitting in rush hour traffic!  And there are dozens of wonderful restaurants within mere steps you can visit after we unplug and pack up our instruments.  There’s a nice big garage a block north, and it’s dirt cheap (one of the great things about Evanston).  Or you can use your phone app to feed the parking meters from the comfort of your concert seat.  Beat the heat, cool off and join us!

$10, includes beverage

Benefit Concert for Vital Touch

American Honor Alehouse & Brewery, 883 Highland Ave SE, Hickory, NC

I’m playing a benefit for a cause that’s near & dear to my heart, thanks to my BCO buddy Mary Mallette of SC. Vital Touch is a program at Vitality Medical Spa in Hickory, NC (90 min. e. of Asheville and 40 min. n. of Charlotte).  Funded by grants & donations, it provides spa services: massage (including lymphedema), facials (using environmentally safe and non-carcinogenic products), etc. free of charge to breast cancer patients. As someone who gets MLD massage therapy for breast-cancer-induced lymphedema, I can vouch for how important (and usually expensive) these services are. And for patients going through chemo and radiation, looking good (without using endocrine-disrupting or carcinogenic beauty products) equals feeling better--it truly is vital to recovery and survival.  Good music & humor, great food, microbrewed-in-house ales & beers--and you get to do good just by being fed & entertained!

Various showcases

SERFA (SE Regional Folk Alliance), Montreat Conference Center, Asheville, NC

After skipping the conference last year to take care of some emergency family health issues, I’m returning to Montreat in the beautiful Blue Ridge for some picking, singing, gathering and learning at SERFA, which has grown over the past few years...but not like kudzu, thank goodness.  I will be playing at least two private showcases (either Thur. or Sat. in the Texas Sugarbabies room and Fri. night in the Uncorked Lounge...and you know there’ll be chocolate in the former and primo vino in the latter). More details as they become available. Of course, they’re not “private” if you’re attending the conference or buying an evening pass!

Andina & Rich on the (Stained) Rug

Stained Rug House Concert Series, 2855 Sweet Clover Way, Wauconda, IL

Our first full gig (not counting showcases and writers’ rounds) since Nov. 2015--I’m back in action and hitting the road (even if it’s only the Tri-State Tollway to the NW suburbs).  Hank Tuber is graciously hosting us for the Stained Rug House Concert Series (or do you say Schumtzedigge Shmatta?). Two sets with potluck munchies & potables before, during intermission and after. Ol’Man Winter has decided to mellow out considerably, so (channeling Stephen) in the immortal words of Bullwinkle Moose, “this time for sure!” For reservations & info, contact bandude49@aol.com or call 847-487-0464.
